Just in Time for Easter and . . .

Just in Time for Easter and . . .

I have been pondering as to what the next post should be about, and another few weeks have drifted by just as a fallen leaf is swiftly carried downstream in a nearby creek.  The question is always what to write about, what to write about?  Should it always be about soap?  Business?  I keep telling myself that might be pretty boring for a reader.  Upon sharing my quandary with a friend, she gave me the answer--life's simple pleasures with a smattering of soapy things for good measure.  Brilliant!

Therefore, this week, I would like to reflect on the holiest day, and in my humble opinion, what should be the holiest day, of a Christian's year--Easter, also known as Resurrection Sunday.  But what about Christmas, you ask?  Celebrating the birth of Christ IS very important, but His death and resurrection, and how they may ultimately affect a person's life is what makes Easter so very special.  So special that Christians around the globe celebrate His resurrection when they honor the Sabbath each and every Sunday of the year.

I recently had the opportunity to have a conversation regarding the Passover Seder with a young Jewish man who is a Christian.  I asked him about the significance of the middle piece of matzah being broken, a portion of it being hidden, and the person who finds the hidden piece is rewarded.  He told me, it represents the Son who was broken for us, hidden for a time, but will be found and the finders will be redeemed.  Now, if you are not familiar with the Passover Seder, I highly recommend reading  about it or watching (on Youtube--The True Meaning of Pesach (Passover)),and the significance of the Seder meal.  From a Jewish Christian's perspective all the items of point toward Messiah.  That is my point, Jesus (the Messiah) was broken (sacrificed on a cross) for our sins, He died and was buried, and that should have been the end of it.  But it was not!  The grave could not hold Him, because on that Sunday morning He rose from the dead!

No other god came to earth to be with his people, no other god willingly died for his people, and no other god rose from the dead!  Our God, Jesus did!  And why?  Because He loves us, He became the sacrificial lamb!  We only need to recognize that on our own, we are incapable (due to sin) of ever entering His Heavenly Kingdom and being in His presence.  We also need to confess our sin to Him, ask for forgiveness, and for Him to dwell within us and only Him, for Jesus is the way, the truth, and the light, for no one can come to the Father (God) except through the Son (Jesus).

That is why I have come to recognize that this coming Sunday, Easter Sunday, is the holiest of days for this Christian, and I hope for you, too!  May you have a safe and pleasant week and may you celebrate this Easter Sunday with friends, family, and lots of love!

Blessings,

Lorraine
